Same-Day Water Heater Replacement — How It Works

Need a new water heater today? How same-day tank and tankless replacement works in Greater Vancouver. What is in the truck, typical timelines, and what to expect.

When Same-Day Replacement Is Possible

Most standard 40 and 50-gallon atmospheric vent gas water heaters can be replaced same-day. Our technicians carry the most common sizes and types on their trucks or can source them from our supplier network within hours. Power vent and direct vent models may require a second trip if the specific model is not in stock. Tankless water heater replacements typically require more planning due to venting, gas line, and electrical requirements that vary between models. Emergency replacement is prioritized — we understand that no hot water is a significant disruption for any household.

The Same-Day Replacement Process

Call and describe your current water heater type, size, fuel source, and venting. Our dispatcher checks inventory for a compatible replacement. A technician arrives with the replacement unit, assesses the installation site, confirms the replacement is appropriate, and provides a written estimate. Installation typically takes 2-4 hours including draining the old tank, removing it, installing the new unit, connecting water and gas lines, testing for leaks, and verifying proper operation. The old unit is removed and disposed of.

What If Same-Day Is Not Possible

If your specific water heater configuration requires a unit not in immediate inventory, we provide a temporary solution: we can often restore partial functionality to your existing unit to get you through until the replacement arrives, or provide guidance on managing without hot water for 24-48 hours. We prioritize water heater replacements and typically complete them within 24-48 hours even when same-day is not possible. Emergency cases involving active leaks or vulnerable household members receive highest priority.

Safety Reminder

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide or believe there is an immediate danger, leave the property and contact emergency services or the appropriate gas emergency authority. Do not remain inside — exit the building immediately and call for help from outside.
