Water Heater Expansion Tank Replacement Cost in Vancouver

Signs of Expansion Tank Failure

The T&P relief valve drips water when the water heater runs (thermal expansion has nowhere to go), the expansion tank feels completely full of water (tap test — should sound hollow on top), or the bladder has failed (water comes out when you press the Schrader valve on top).

Replacement Cost

Expansion tank replacement costs $200-400 including the tank ($50-150) and labour ($150-250). The tank should be sized to match your water heater capacity — larger tanks for larger water heaters. The air charge must be set to match your home water pressure.

Same-Day Replacement

If your T&P valve is leaking due to a failed expansion tank, we provide same-day replacement. A new expansion tank stops the valve from leaking and protects your water heater from pressure damage. Call for emergency service.

Safety Reminder

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide or believe there is an immediate danger, leave the property and contact emergency services or the appropriate gas emergency authority. Do not remain inside — exit the building immediately and call for help from outside.
