CleanBC 2026 Updates

CleanBC continues to offer $2,000-6,000 for qualifying heat pump installations in 2026. Key updates: income-qualified households may now receive enhanced top-up rebates of $1,000-2,000, and the program now includes ductless mini-split installations more explicitly. Pre-approval is still recommended before installation.

Stacking Incentives

Maximum savings come from stacking: CleanBC rebate ($2,000-6,000), Canada Greener Homes Loan ($0 for 10 years), municipal top-ups (some municipalities offer additional incentives), and FortisBC dual-fuel rebates if keeping a gas furnace. Total combined value can reach $8,000-12,000.

Application Process

Step 1: Get a pre-approval from CleanBC (recommended). Step 2: Choose a licensed contractor. Step 3: Install the heat pump. Step 4: Your contractor submits the rebate application with proof of installation. Step 5: Receive rebate within 4-8 weeks. Keep all documentation including the energy assessment report.

Safety Reminder

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide or believe there is an immediate danger, leave the property and contact emergency services or the appropriate gas emergency authority. Do not remain inside — exit the building immediately and call for help from outside.
