Two-Stage vs Modulating

Two-stage furnaces run at 65% capacity most of the time, switching to 100% only when needed. Modulating furnaces vary output from 35-100% continuously. Two-stage is the best value for most homes. Modulating provides maximum comfort but costs $800-1,200 more.

Smart Thermostat Compatibility

Modern furnaces communicate with smart thermostats for better efficiency. Features include adaptive recovery (learns how long your home takes to heat), humidity control, and diagnostic alerts. A smart thermostat works with any furnace but works best with variable-speed models.
